An economic slow-down, which is how our current economy is now classified, sometimes forces us to make the decisions that we should have been making all along.
In other words, don't spend any money on anything you don't need.
Forget the want....concentrate on the needs.
I have no idea how many Consumers have to pay for Hearing Aids out of their own pocket, but those that do, are usually more concerned with what something costs, and does it make sense.
Is the expenditure necessary, or just silly.
People react and act, totally different when they are actually spending their own money.
It has always amazed me how all of a sudden they become smart, or at least conservative, and sensible.
All levels of Government, and Government Agencys, such as the VA or Medicaid, who pay for Hearing Aid for their Clients, as they are called, evidently could care less that custom made Hearing Aids last forever, can be repaired forever, can be upgraded forever, and remade forever, at a fraction of the cost of New Products.
But since no one (except the Taxpayer) pays for the Hearing Aids, not the Provider or Individual Dispensing the Hearing Aids, or the Recipient, the Person receiving the Hearing Aids, then no one cares about the Cost or the Alternatives of Providing Hearing Aids and their Service.
The VA gives away Hearing Aids as though they don't cost any money.
The Manufacturers love Government business, because no one cares.
Sometimes, the Government Employees like to provide products or services, just to keep their jobs.
Makes sense.
Custom made Hearing Aids can always be repaired, upgraded,or remade.
I have seen Custom Made Hearing Aids that still work fine, after 30 years of use.
The above are all Alternatives to buying new Hearing Aids.
It is at the Discretion of the Dealer (Provider) whether they want to provide such services.
If your present Provider won't do it for you, then find one that will.
A Half of Loaf is better than none,as the saying goes.
The Reason why Insurance Companies,Government Agencys, such as the VA and Medicaid, and Employers that provide Hearing Aid Benefits, don't insist on obtaining 5 Year Warranties on New Hearing Aids is because they are not aware such Warranties are available.
Why they don't insist on the Hearing Aid User, using the Original Hearing Aids Provided, until the User dies, is because they are not aware Hearing Aids can be Repaired, Upgraded, or Remade, forever.
What a waste of money.
In the mean time, those that have to pay for everything out of their own pocket, the way it should be, know that such Services are available, and don't transfer their Money to others as easily as does someone that actually isn't paying for the Products or Servies.
Sometimes, tougheconomictimes, makes smarter People out of Us.
