HEARING AIDS-INTEGRITY-CONFLICTS-DIFFERENCES IN CULTURE-BUY MAYBE NOT-THE RIGHT THING TO DO-IN THE E

Hearing Aids complaint
We have a Client, who has been in the Oil Industry, all his life. As was his Father , and perhaps his Grandfather.

At the present time, this individual, a down to earth kind of Guy, is managing Oil Fields for a lot of Clients, and also owns Oil Wells on his own.

He has primarily, a High Frequency Hearing Loss, and is a perfect candidate for what we call an "Open Fit" product.

He has never worn 2 Hearing Aids, but agreed to try 2 of the Open Fit Kind.

We fit him with REXTON Revo P products.

The Revo P, has more options and features than the Revo.

Obviously, these products cost us more money than just the Revo.

He is very impressed with the Hearing Aids and the remote control.

When reviewing his file, I noticed that he had a Hearing Aid repaired over a year ago, and that he never picked it up.

The reason was, that he was very busy and evidently didn't think he needed it.

During that time, we relocated out office and moved.

When he bought the new products, I told him that we were issuing a credit for the repair charge.

I also informed him, that we would try to find his old hearing aid, even though its been well over a year.

I am sure he was surprised I would refund his repair charge, but think about it.

He paid in advance, and never recevied his repaired hearing aid back.

Its true, that from the time he turned in the aid, and the time he came to retrieve it, was well over a year.

But from a Moral point of view, and perhaps, also from a legal point of view,

I felt that the least we should do is refund his repair charge fee, since he never got his hearing aid back.

We will, try to trace and find his old repaired hearing aid. And if we do, we will offer it to him, for the repair charge.

If he doesn't want it, we will sell it as used to somebody else.

There is a Mentality, in Business, that says, we shouldn't have given him credit for the repair charges on a hearing aid, he never claimed.

But rather than place blame, I chose the high road.

I believe, when he relates how we handled this situation, and remember, he never brought it up, that those he relates his experience to, will decide that I am the type of person they want to do business with.

As an Old Friend used to tell me, its not only the right thing to do, its good business.

I think so.

We'll see
