The Sale and Fitting of HEARING AIDS have been reduced to the selling of a comodity, where price is the only consideration.
I know of no other retail product, where that attitude is more wrong.
Perhaps, the only People who will realize what I am talking about, are those People who have used Hearing Aids for years, are dependent upon them, and appreciate the differences in the Hearing Aid Providers.
Today, a Wife of one of my Clients called me and inquired as to the price I could sell her a particular branded Hearing Aid.
When I attempted to give her some background and knowledge, on the Hearing Aid Industry, and Hearing Aids in specific, She let me know immediately, that she wasn't interested in what I had to say.
My reaction was, How Stupid She Was.
This Snob, was so into herself, and her perception of what Hearing Aids were all about, that she didn't have the time to discuss Hearing Loss, Hearing Aids, Providers, and Patient Care.
My immediate reaction was, that I didn't want to have her as a Client.
Her Husband, is my Client, but she chose to seek service and advice, where She considered the Provider to be more Professional, as She considers Herself.
All She wanted from me, was at what Cost I could provide her the identical product that she was interested in.
Although She knew nothing about Hearing Aids, the Product She was interested in, was the latest design in a small Hearing Aid, that is intended not to look like a Hearing Aid.
Out of Courtesy, I responded to her request, as to what I could sell her those specific Hearing Aids for, and She thanked me.
Her Husband, who is my Client, came into my office this afternoon, and described his Wife, the Woman who made the Inquiry, as a Woman of Few Words.
He is a Prince of a Man.
How he became married to such a *** is beyond me.
I really don't want His Wife as my Client, and I am hoping that She opts to buy Her Hearing Aids from someone else.
If per chance, She decides to save several thousand dollars, by buying those particular from me, I shall enjoy telling her the Facts of Life.
She is an educated Woman, with a Professional Degree, and I am sure She is very competent in her field.
But how accomplished can She be, if She upsets everyone She comes in contact with.
