Every Business, whether its a Giant like ZEROX,HP,POLAROID,GE,SEARS,K-MART,or whoever, or a Small Mattress Retail Store, or Restaurant, or Service Center, at some point in their History, may have to make dramatic changes in their Business Plan or Strategy, or go out of business.
Very often, Outsiders are brought in as CEOs, such as in the case of FORD AND CHRYSLER,because Insiders can't make the necessary changes due to tradition,history,loyalty,etc.
In the 80's SEARS tried to get into the Banking Business, Real Estate Business,and other businesses, that had nothing to do with their Core Business.
My basic observation and experience in the Business World over the past 50 years is "That you have to dancewith what brung ya".
My understanding of that expression is that whatever it was that made you successful, keep doing it, don't change.
Another Basic Premise is: What are you going to different than your Competitor so that People (Customers) will come to you.
In the Hearing Aid Industry, as long as I have been in it, which is about 25 years, it has been obvious to me that all anyone in the Industry, at every level, has only been interested in selling NEW HEARING AIDS.
EVERY EFFORT,ETHICAL,OR UNETHICAL, MORAL OR IMMORAL, LEGAL OR ILLEGAL, WAS EMPLOYED TO SELL NEW HEARING AIDS.
Thank God, for a Free Market and Competition in the United States.
Its the only thing that really has any influence on keeping anyone honest.
In any Product ever made, Everyone knows that a Rebuilt Product should, and does, cost less than a New Product.
And it should, and it does.
Sometimes there can be more profit in Rebuilt Parts than in New Parts.
The only costs sustained in Rebuilt Parts are the actual costs in Rebuilding the Part.
In the Hearing Aid Industry, since the Basic Premise is to Sell New Hearing Aids, since after all, thats what Hearing Aid Manufacturers do, is provide New Hearing Aids, and since there is more PROFIT in the Sale of New Hearing Aids as opposed to Repairing, Upgrading, Remaking, Converting, Existing Hearing Aids, or even selling Used or Reconditioned Hearing Aids, then the Instructed, Encouraged, Directed, and Marketing Efforts, are all geared to the Sale of New Hearing Aids.
When how Hearing Aids are Purchased, and you study the Selling and Buying Paterns, whereby Companies like HearX are partially owned by KAISER MEDICAL,not for the Purpose of Providing Hearing Aids at Less Cost, than on the Open Market, but to make more PROFIT for KAISER, and when Medical Doctors have their Wifes selling Hearing Aids, and when Buying Groups, collude with Medical Providers, such as UNITED HEALTH CARE,SCAN,ETC,ETC,and mislead their MEMBERS to believe they are receiving special discounts and pricing, if they visit Newport Audiology, or any other Contracted Provider, who in reality inflates the Retail Price, and then Discounts the Product, which results in a Net Cost still much higher, than if the Member bought the Hearing Aid on the Open Market, or from Somebody like COSTCO, only then is an accurate portrayal presented of the Hearing Aid Industry.
Our Business, and Practice, as the more Sophisticated like to say, was built on PROVIDING AN ALTERNATIVE TO BUYING NEW HEARING AIDS.
ACCORDINGLY, WE WILL ONCE AGAIN CONCENTRATE ON PROVIDING SERVICES THAT NO OTHER HEARING AID DISPENSER OFFERS.
Repairing any Hearing Aid ever made, regardless of age.
Remaking Hearing Aids, which means making New Shells.
Upgrading existing Hearing Aids to Digital Signal Processing.
Recasing.
Modifying.
Converting from Ear to Ear.
